Official or not
Official servers are the ones in Rust's in-game Official tab: Facepunch's own and its partners', such as RustSpain. Rust Graphs keeps that list by hand, by hostname and address. Everything else is a community or modded server.
This page draws the current Rust player count from every public server's own report: 90,376 players on 11,797 servers, refreshed every five minutes and last updated 27 Oct 2026, 15:45 UTC. The first chart plots players over the last 24 hours, the second over the last months. How the players split
Every server online is counted once in each breakdown, so each one adds up to the 90,376 players on 11,797 servers.
Modded or not
Oxide runs on 7,486 servers with 53,853 players, Carbon on 1,893 with 16,738. 2,663 servers with 44,868 players call themselves vanilla.

02Why is this player count lower than Steam's?
Steam records everyone with Rust open, including the menu, loading screens and servers that do not list publicly. Rust Graphs counts only players on public servers that report a count. That narrower count is what allows the split by server type below.
03When are the most players on Rust?
The measured peak in the last 24 hours is 98,991 players. The record at any refresh is 145,095. Read the plot by hour in UTC: the European evening carries the highest count, and the quietest hour usually holds under half of it.
04Is Rust more played on modded or vanilla servers?
